Female Roles
Winnie Foster - Soprano (A3 -E5)
Winnie Foster is an 11-year old girl in Treegap, New Hampshire. Her father died less than a year previously, and her mother, though loving, is very strict. She is not allowed to leave her front yard. Winnie is, for the most part, a very obedient girl--that is, until she runs away to visit the fair and embarks upon the adventure of a lifetime. When she meets Jesse Tuck, he opens up a magical world of possibility that she never knew existed.
Winnie is kidnapped by Mae and Miles Tuck, where she learns of their enchanted spring. After she becomes friends with Jesse, he tries to convince her to drink from the spring as well so that they can be together forever. The other Tucks are against this, however, and each of them tries to discourage her from choosing immortality. During her time with the Tucks, she manages to show them that there are still things in life worth looking forward to, and in return they teach her about the value of a normal, mortal life.

Mae Tuck - Mezzo-Soprano (A3 -E5)
Mae Tuck is the wife of Angus and the mother of Jesse and Miles. She loves her husband, but the years have left her weary and unsure of his feelings for her. She is a wise and devoted mother, who loves her sons but fears what time has done to them. When she meets Winnie, she is alarmed at the idea of kidnapping a child, but immediately warms to the thought of finally having a daughter. She shares special family memories with Winnie, including the day when Angus proposed to her. Mae, like Angus, works to convince Winnie that life is meant to be lived, and discourages her from drinking the enchanted water. She is very protective of her children (real and adopted) and goes to extreme measures to safeguard them from the Man in the Yellow Suit. Like all the Tucks, Mae struggles with immortality, and seeks things to look forward to in life.
